Where Our Profit Goes

20% of Profit to Five Charities

We pledge to give one fifth of Shoptegrity's profit away each year, split evenly among five charities.

The pledge

  • How much: 20% of profit. Each charity receives 4%.
  • What "profit" means: revenue (affiliate commissions and any other income) minus the costs of running the site (hosting, data, software, contractors, and taxes) for the calendar year. If a year has no profit, there is nothing to give that year, and we will say so.
  • When: once a year, after the books close for the year.
  • Proof: each year we publish a donation report with the year's profit, the amount sent to each charity, and the date sent.
  • Your purchase: buying through our links costs you nothing extra, and your purchase is not itself a tax-deductible donation.

The five charities

  1. Good Jobs First — corporate accountability. Publishes free, public databases of corporate subsidies and penalties. 501(c)(3), EIN 82-0542649.
  2. Project Equity — employee ownership. Helps small-business owners sell to their employees so local businesses stay locally owned. A project of Multiplier, a 501(c)(3), which receives the donation.
  3. Earthjustice — environment. A nonprofit environmental law organization. 501(c)(3), EIN 94-1730465.
  4. Doctors Without Borders USA — humanitarian aid. Emergency medical care in conflicts, epidemics, and disasters. 501(c)(3), EIN 13-3433452.
  5. National Farm to School Network — local food in schools. Brings locally grown food and school gardens to children. A project of Tides Center, a 501(c)(3), which receives the donation.

These charities have not endorsed Shoptegrity, and our ratings of any company are independent of this pledge. If we change the list, we will say so here before the change takes effect.
